Combining mHealth Technology and Pharmacotherapy to Improve Mental Health Outcomes and Reduce Human Rights Abuses in West Africa: Intervention Field Trial 

WADMA members Dror Ben-Zeev, Anna Larsen, Dzifa Attah, Kwadwo Obeng, Alexa Beaulieu, Seth Asafo, Jonathan Kuma Gavi, Arya Kadakia, Emmanuel Quame Sottie, Sammy Ohene, Lola Kola, Kevin Hallgren, Jaime Snyder, Pamela Collins, Angela Ofori-Atta, and the M-Healer Research Team published a paper in JMIR Mental Health describing the feasibility, acceptability, safety, and preliminary effectiveness of a dual pronged intervention package involving a smartphone delivered toolkit designed to expose healers to brief psychological interventions and a visiting nurse who provides medications to their patients in real-world prayer settings.

Developing the West African Digital Mental Health Alliance (WADMA)

WADMA members Lola Kola, Anna Larsen, Seth Asafo, Dzifa Attah, Alexa Beaulieu, Jonathan Kuma Gavi, Kevin Hallgren, Arya Kadakia, Kwadwo Obeng, Sammy Ohene, Jaime Snyder, Angela Ofori-Atta, and Dror Ben-Zeev published an article in Nature Medicine introducing WADMA - a mission-centered group aimed at fostering a new generation of digital mental health researchers committed to advancing mental health services using digital innovations in West Africa.

A Digital Toolkit (M-Healer) to Improve Care and Reduce Human Rights Abuses Against People with Mental Illness in West Africa: User-Centered Design, Development, and Usability Study

WADMA members Dror Ben-Zeev, Jaime Snyder, Dzifa Attah, Seth Asafo, Pamela Collins, and Angela Ofori-Atta, along with other co-authors published an article in the Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR) describing their process for codeveloping a digital mental health toolkit designed to support healers caring for people with serious mental illness in Ghana.
